The world
Brine at nine densities. There is no fixed ground — the field colour is the pan being described, walked from intake grey-green through the carotenoid bloom to crust white and back.
The mechanic
The pans read °Bé. Ground colour is a function of brine density, interpolated by scroll position — no easing, no timeline. One ink at full opacity on all nine grounds, which is what forces every one of them to L* 56 or above.
The control case. The reservoir — a shaded pan held at 3.5 °Bé all season, measured identical to the intake.
